This week ended with a lot of clarifying thoughts.
God is good. He understands where we are at in every situation, and He can relate. It amazes me that the God who spoke the heavens into existence also understands the depths of my sorrows, pain, happiness, and joy.
He provides everything we feel. He allows us to enjoy His presence and be made complete in Him as we walk through this sinful world.
We often forget that Jesus was actually here on earth. He suffered as we suffer—far more than we ever could. To believe otherwise would be to miss the heart of the gospel.
The presence of God in the midst of suffering is incredible. It’s something you don’t fully grasp until the only thing you have left is Him. His promises are like a soothing salve, waiting for you to remember and apply them when your heart feels heavy and life feels overwhelming.
“Lord, I just truly thank You for all You have done in my life and in the lives of those I’ve crossed paths with.”
That is my daily prayer: that my life and my actions would glorify the Lord. I never want to take the glory for myself. I never want to forget that He is the reason I am here today—the reason I’m breathing, the reason I’m even able to write these words.
A Bracelet and a Reminder
Recently, I got two bracelets that I love to wear regularly. One of them carries this verse:
“You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” – John 13:7
It’s a powerful reminder. In that passage, Jesus was washing His disciples’ feet—a task reserved for servants, never for a teacher or master. When Peter questioned Him, Jesus explained that he wouldn’t understand in the moment, but one day he would.
Later, after His death, resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit, it all made sense. The act of washing feet was pointing to the ultimate act of service: the cross.
Every time I feel the bracelet on my wrist, I’m reminded that God’s plan has always been unfolding, even when I can’t see it.
The Greatest Promise
God has continually provided the promise of His steadfast love, and nothing demonstrates that more than the cross. We were all once dead, but He made us alive through the sacrifice of Jesus.
Sometimes I wonder what it must have been like to live before Jesus came, before grace was poured out, before His perfect life and sacrificial death. But then I realize—we don’t have to imagine it. We get to live in the fullness of what He already accomplished.
Closing Thought
So when life feels heavy, when I don’t understand what He’s doing, I look down at my wrist and remember: Jesus is still serving. He is still working. And though I may not see it now, I will understand later.
His love has always been steady, and His presence has never left.
Prayer of Heartache, Hope, and Purpose
Lord, I feel so much of the heartache and the suffering in my life. I also feel overwhelmed with love for others who are going through far worse.
I pray for anyone who is on the fence in believing in You. I pray that they see the light and stop being one foot in and one foot out. Allow them to feel Your beauty and Your grace. Bring comfort upon them when they need it, and thank You for those who are spreading the Gospel and sharing the story You have provided for their lives.
You never needed us, yet You chose us to be Your hands and feet here because You love us that deeply. The depth of Your love and goodness will forever be something I will never fully understand. Allow us to continue to share and grow in Your wisdom. I pray we never forget our true reason for being here.
The chief end of man is to glorify God—and glorify, I will try my best to do every day.
I pray all these things in Your name, AMEN.
